My FBA Journey & Insights

Like many sellers, my journey into e-commerce didn’t start with Amazon FBA. Before selling on Amazon, I was already running a successful eBay business, sourcing and selling products during trending market booms. When I discovered Amazon FBA, it was a no-brainer - a chance to scale bigger, faster, and more efficiently.
Of course, the reality of selling on Amazon was far from simple. One of my biggest early mistakes? Underestimating cash flow. I found some amazing products to sell, spent all my available capital, and then realised Amazon holds your funds for two weeks. That forced me to think smarter about sourcing, budgeting, and managing inventory. Every spare moment became an opportunity to study, research, and learn - watching every bit of Amazon-related content I could find.
I started off heavily reliant on Retail Arbitrage (RA), spending hours driving from store to store, scanning shelves, and hunting for deals. It was time-consuming, and looking back, I wish I had learned more efficient sourcing methods sooner. But every mistake became a lesson, and those lessons built the foundation for a business that continues to grow today.

Your Amazon Journey
Â
How did you first get into Amazon FBA?
- We used to sell air fryers on eBay, when the hype was there. Me and Rach then became aware that we could sell products on the biggest ecommerce site available. Which seemed to be a no brainer.
What was the biggest challenge you faced when starting, and how did you overcome it?
- Cashflow! When we first started sourcing products we found some fantastic opportunities, so managed to spend all our funds immediately. I wasn't aware of the 2 weeks that Amazon held your funds for, so I spent the 2 weeks looking into how to source products and how to analyse them. Every moment I could I was watching some sort of Amazon related content.
What’s one thing you wish you had known when you started selling on Amazon?
- Apart from the cashflow issues? Well, I would probably say how much time I spent doing retail arbitrage (RA). As a beginner, I couldn't understand how to do online arbitrage so we spent countless hours driving from store to store and scanning through all the shelves. Before working out more efficient methods of how to do RA, Amazon is a huge learning curve and I feel we only managed because we started at the beginning of Q4.
Your Experience & Insights
Â
What part of running an FBA business do you enjoy the most?
- The flexibility, it certainly isn't a "passive income" but the flexibility it can bring is amazing!
What’s been your biggest success or proudest moment as an Amazon seller?
- I went to Wilko to do pick up some bits and saw in the clearance section some WIFI sockets selling for ÂŁ5 each, scanned them and sold on Amazon for ÂŁ34.99. I cleared the shelf in the local store, forgetting what I originally went in for. I ran home to Rach with 10 of these sockets, said it was a huge opportunity to go around the local area to get them. So we cleared all the stores in the local area. As I used to travel the country for my 9-5 job, I made sure we went to every Wilko I could and clear the stock. I ended up selling near 300 units.
If you could go back and do one thing differently in your FBA journey, what would it be?
- Good question! I mean there has been ALOT of highlights and certainly has been a few not-so highlights. But the journey has got me to this point in my life and I am proud of myself and of Rach. We have worked bloody hard and managed to get to the place we are at now. We have met some amazing people on the journey, made lots of friends and we really have come along way! I wouldn't want to change it.
Advice for Other Sellers
Â
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just getting started with Amazon FBA?
- Don't believe this is going to be easy. Its not a get rich quick scheme. Its hard work and you need to know how to pivot.
What’s your top tip for someone looking to scale their business?
- Penny pinch! Ask for used boxes to help costs. Use coupons and cashback sites. The more money you can save yourself the quicker you would grow. I think the mindset of this helps on the journey as well.
What’s the biggest mistake you see sellers make, and how can they avoid it?
- Sellers giving up. This can feel like a lonely and hard journey with no one out there to help you (especially without a cost attached to it). Try and find like-minded people, network and collaborate. This doesn't mean share the products you are buying but talking to others can reward you with some decent nuggets!
Your Perspective on FBA Navigators
Â
Why did you want to be part of FBA Navigators?
- I have been in other communities, they treat members like numbers. Everyone is a someone! I want to help as many people as I possibly can to become successful. If I can change peoples lives, which I know I will especially with the other Navigators. It would be unexplainable.
What do you think makes FBA Navigators different from other Amazon communities?
- We care! I know that there is a few good communities ran by some amazing people. But the navigators are bringing something, no other community offers. We are here to give you guidance from a total beginner to 6-7 figure seller who can sell internationally and potentially run their own team.
What do you hope members will take away from being part of this community?
- Take away? That seems to imply they wouldn't be staying! They would want to stay as what we have is going to be game-changing!
Fun Fact!
Â
What’s something about you that people might not expect?
- I am organically myself. Some people might expect that me dressing up in lycra or prancing around as a elf is some sort of act. But that's me, I am quirky and it seems hard to embarrass me. Saying that, I don't like getting up on karaoke because I like to make the words up to songs and not sing the correct ones.
